Rare animation art from the Hanna-Barbera studio

When Joseph Hanna and William Barbera opened their legendary animation studio in Los Angeles in 1957, they changed cartoons forever. Creating characters like Jerry Mouse, Scooby-Doo and Yogi Bear, they revolutionised Saturday morning cartoons for the next four decades. Now, their art has been expertly curated for this extremely limited series, which includes authentic limited edition cels of television's best-loved cartoon characters.

Hand-signed by some of the biggest names in animation and film, it includes classic moments from shows like The JetsonsTop Cat, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and The Flintstones. Each cel was created using specialist fine art techniques or hand-painted using the same materials as the originals, making them a truly unique gift for any cartoon fan. We hope you love them as much as we 'Yabba-dabba-doo!'.

Inside the studio

Described as “the birthplace of TV animation”, the sprawling Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc. studio was architecturally inspired by the futuristic style of The Jetsons and boasted a cartoonish façade.

Inside the building, teams of writers, animators and voice actors worked together to bring characters like Fred Flintstone, Jerry Mouse and Pink Panther to life. These included former MGM animators from the studio where Hanna and Barbera met.

Animators used a planned animation process, whereby frames were repeated to lower the number needed and speed up production. Because of this, the studio could focus more on scriptwriting, situational comedy and creative camerawork.
