Elegantly portrayed on glass, in this bold and luxurious limited edition, Dan Lane revisits some of his beloved themes from his earlier work. In “Heavy Is The Head That Wears The Crown”, the artist fuses his classical baroque sculpture style and the drama they convey with his own style and its iconic elements. Whilst the Iron and Silver Leaf piece is bold and dramatic, the title evokes an element of humbleness and simplicity.
“Its initial meaning was obviously the worries of a king, queen or leader but I believe we are all equal and leaders of our own lives and every now and then we have things that challenge or worry us and that's ok." – Dan Lane
The Flatbed Giclée on Glass will add a classic and contemporary dimension to any home. View Dan Lane's full portfolio here or read more about this piece on our blog.
This piece can be purchased in a set alongside Heavy Is The Head That Wears The Crown (Marble).

Flatbed Giclée on Glass
Given Castle Fine Art's expertise as UK's leading art retailer, we are committed to the highest standards specially regarding printing. Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork. The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye).

The artist
Dan Lane
Dan Lane's works certainly have a contemporary, urban edge, but as an artist, he is hugely influenced by the Renaissance. He is inspired by the sculptures found in churches and cathedrals around the world, particularly the flamboyant styling of the Italian sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the artist credited with creating the Baroque style of sculpture, and other Italian artistic geniuses Michelangelo and Antonio Canova.
Nature also influences Dan's art, with many pieces featuring flowers, insects, and birds. For his original 3D sculptures, Dan experiments with colours, finishes and textures. These include crushed glass, gold and silver leaf, marble, bronze, and glass diamonds.
