Created for an exhibition in Sydney in 2022, the artworks capture Connolly’s long-standing affection for Australia and its culture. His wife, Pamela, was raised in Sydney. Australia was one of the first countries outside the UK to embrace his raw Glaswegian comedy and he has performed there extensively throughout his career. Connolly's attachment to these images reflects his close affinity with the subject matter.
These playful references to everyday icons of Australian culture conjure fond memories for Connolly, who has not visited the country for some years and is nostalgic for the country’s warmth and humour. The artworks are a genuine expression of the importance of Australia within Connolly’s life and career.
‘VegeMaybe’ references the iconic but divisive Australian food spread, which blew Connolly away when he first tasted it in Hamilton, south-western Victoria. The artwork depicts the artist leaning against a surreally large pot of Vegemite with his name written across it, a gift he received when touring Australia, holding ‘pens or pencils or brushes’ in his hands. This subtle reference to the artists' tools reveals the sense of fulfilment art has given Connolly since picking up the brushes 'on a rainy day' almost two decades ago.

Yes, Castle Fine Art is based in the UK, but we ship internationally. All of our international orders are delivered via DHL.
To ensure a secure transit, every artwork is handled with utmost care. We take precautionary measures by using foam around the piece for added safety during transportation, and then the artwork(s) are packaged in double-walled, reinforced cardboard boxes that offer superior protection. All of this ensures that your artwork arrives safely.
Most artwork orders will need to be professionally mounted and framed before being dispatched, so delivery can take up to four weeks from the date you placed your order, but we do strive to deliver your order as soon as we can.
Books and gift cards are delivered within 2-3 working days. Please note, if multiple artworks are purchased within the same order, they may be delivered separately for efficient delivery.
The majority of our originals and limited editions are hand signed by the artist themselves. On some occasions where we have limited edition sculptures, this is hand written into the mould before production. If you're unsure, please contact us.
