The collection's spectacular centrepiece, Pour Decisions, opens the drinks cabinet wide, lining up a cast of bottles whose labels are every bit as mischievous as the characters surrounding them. Painted with masterful precision in bold, graphic colour, this is part still life and part visual treasure hunt — a scene to take in from across the room before getting closer to discover what is hidden within.
Across the shelf stands an eclectic gathering of bottles, from gin and rum to tequila, liqueurs and champagne, each one given the Peter and Jayne treatment. Familiar shapes are transformed through playful labels and irreverent names, turning the traditional drinks cabinet into an Impossimal world of its own.
There is ice ready for the glass, cherries and citrus waiting to be used, a bar spoon and measure amongst the bottles, herbs scattered across the shelf and Impossimals appearing throughout the scene as though they have been left in charge of the drinks cabinet. The longer you look, the more there is to find.
It is a bar designed not simply to be viewed, but imagined in use: the lights lowered, glasses being poured, friends arriving and the evening stretching on beyond the point anyone intended.
