Shifting between an image of a golden skull and a portrait of the late Lee Alexander McQueen, this lenticular has become one of the artist’s most recognisable artworks to date. The portrait was originally a personal project between Gary James McQueen and his uncle, taken in 2008. Layered with photo-manipulated images of Tower Bridge, the portrait was used for the invitation to the Alexander McQueen 2009 ‘Natural Dis-Tinction, Un-Natural Selection’ womenswear show. Exhibited in the V&A Museum, London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the image’s history encapsulates Lee’s legacy as an iconic British designer.
A master of the craft, Gary James McQueen’s expertise in creating lenticulars is unparalleled. He creates his images specifically for the medium, considering every detail, ensuring that the lens and grain of each piece has been selected to best exhibit the image. His unique understanding of illustration and light combines with a knowledge of pioneering technology to create the sense of melancholic romance that is instilled in every lenticular he creates.
Please note this artwork has a fulfilment time of six weeks.
