‘Bubbling’ marks the first appearance of YAMA's character Homini, introducing a figure that would later become central to the artist's exploration of human behaviour, identity, and societal influence.
Unlike many of YAMA's later works, which carry more direct commentary on consumerism and social pressures, ‘Bubbling’ presents Homini at the beginning of its journey. The character appears innocent, optimistic, and full of possibility, existing in a state before the influences of overconsumption, capitalism, and societal expectations begin to shape its worldview.
The artwork offers viewers an early glimpse into Homini's personality. Although the character appears shy and reserved, there is also a subtle sense of mischief and curiosity in its expression. This combination of innocence and playfulness hints at the complexity that will continue to develop throughout the character's narrative.
Homini itself emerged through experimentation and character design. The figure was created by combining elements from a series of sketches featuring different animals, including a pig, sheep, and monkey. The resulting form became something entirely new—a hybrid character that feels both familiar and unusual. This ambiguity reflects YAMA's interest in exploring the contradictions of human nature through animal-inspired symbolism.
The visual language of 'Bubbling' reinforces the artwork's optimistic tone. Soft pastel colours and a cloud-filled background create a light, dreamlike atmosphere that emphasises feelings of innocence, imagination, and potential. The gentle palette contrasts with the more complex themes that Homini will later encounter, positioning the work as an introduction to the character before it becomes aware of the pressures and expectations of the world around it.

Raised in post-Soviet Lithuania and entirely self-taught, YAMA began sketching imagined worlds as a child. Yes, Castle Fine Art is based in the UK, but we ship internationally. All of our international orders are delivered via DHL.
To ensure a secure transit, every artwork is handled with utmost care. We take precautionary measures by using foam around the piece for added safety during transportation, and then the artwork(s) are packaged in double-walled, reinforced cardboard boxes that offer superior protection. All of this ensures that your artwork arrives safely.
Most artwork orders will need to be professionally mounted and framed before being dispatched, so delivery can take up to four weeks from the date you placed your order, but we do strive to deliver your order as soon as we can.
Books and gift cards are delivered within 2-3 working days. Please note, if multiple artworks are purchased within the same order, they may be delivered separately for efficient delivery.
The majority of our originals and limited editions are hand signed by the artist themselves. On some occasions where we have limited edition sculptures, this is hand written into the mould before production. If you're unsure, please contact us.
