A striking stainless steel sculpture by modern artist Dan Lane.

Classic art meets modern culture for Dan’s new Modern Relics series. This piece is based on the famous fresco painting ‘The Creation of Adam’ by Michelangelo, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling and illustrates scenes from the biblical book of Genesis. Dan’s sculpture focuses on the intimate near-touching hands of God and Adam as he is given life. Adam’s tattoos give his hand a modern, contemporary feel, while God’s arm tattoos are more angelic and biblical. Cast in stainless steel, the sculpture bears the date 1508-1512 in reference to when the Sistine Chapel was created.
