THE FINER DETAILS

Hand-signed by the artist

The artwork is hand-signed by Alan Somers.

Giclée on Boxed Canvas

Given Castle Fine Art's expertise as the UK's leading art retailer, we are committed to the highest standards, especially regarding printing. Derived from the French term gicler’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition to an original artwork. It is believed that a giclée will significantly outlast a lithographic print, keeping its vivid colour for up to 200 years.

Hand Embellished

Each piece is finished with hand embellishment to preserve the tactile richness and painterly detail of the original oil paintings. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary presentation perfectly reflects Alan’s artistic approach, honouring the foundations of classical oil painting while creating work that feels modern, immersive and atmospheric.

The artist

Alan Somers

Born and raised on the North side of Dublin, Alan Somers has always felt a deep connection to the city’s rhythm and energy. Growing up in a creative household – his father and brother both accomplished painters – sketchpads, pencils and paintbrushes were his constant companions from an early age.

While traditional schooling rarely sparked his imagination, art class became a refuge. There, a supportive teacher encouraged freedom over formality and urged him to trust his instincts, cultivating his lifelong passion for art.
