Chef Patron Mark Birchall partners with Castle Fine Art at the prestigious Moor Hall restaurant

September 2021 marked the beginning of an exciting new partnership between the award-winning restaurant Moor Hall and Castle Fine Art. After being invited to curate a bespoke display of artwork within their beautiful Grade II*-listed property, our team at Castle Fine Art in Liverpool set to work.

Opting for bold, contemporary pieces to offset the traditional grandeur of the building, Chef Patron Mark Birchall and his team worked collaboratively with the art consultants from our gallery to define the aesthetic most suited to Moor Hall. From striking wall sculptures by Frédéric Daty to iconic graphics by Bob Dylan and stunning abstract work by Alex Echo, the display is truly bespoke to the identity of the restaurant, which is set within a lush five-acre landscape in Aughton, West Lancashire.

Our announcement comes hot on the heels of Moor Hall being voted 'National Restaurant of the Year' for the second time at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2021, and more recently, the incredible accolade of 'Best Restaurant in England 2022.' Mark told us: "Like every great artist, every great restaurant will have its own identity. For me, art is a key component of the experience we have created for our guests here at Moor Hall."

"Bringing this award back home to Lancashire and flying the flag for the North West and its amazing produce means the world to me."

We offer our congratulations to Chef Patron Mark Birchall and the team.

Behind the scenes at Moor Hall

Within easy reach of Liverpool and Manchester, Moor Hall is famed for its delicate, produce-driven menus, which are inspired by its exceptional surroundings and enviable kitchen gardens. First recorded in 1282, the seven-bedroom property is one of the most important listed buildings in the UK and overlooks a glistening lake, which is said to be the remains of a medieval moat. So it was no surprise that our filming team jumped at the chance to spend the day in the beautiful surroundings! For more exclusive content, head over to our YouTube channel.
