Former medical photographer Robert was raised in Stoke-on-Trent and moved to Canada at the age of 17. While creating lithographs of World War II canvases, he caught the attention of Star Wars creator George Lucas, sparking the start of a collaborative relationship.
As a licensed Marvel artist, Robert has depicted iconic Spider-Man and Avengers scenes with the help of his trusty pencil. He uses a method called hatching, whereby he shades with closely-drawn parallel lines to imply shade, tone and texture.
He adds: "Only by practice can the dexterity of fine pencil work be kept up."
