Dan Lane brings us four more exciting, limited edition pieces as part of his Chaos & Order series; three stunning works created on glass and a showstopping sculpture, all melding the art of antiquity with meaningful contemporary elements.
‘Fallen Angel’ melds Dan Lane’s love of classic sculpture with his very modern stylistic elements and contemporary techniques of making art. “I’m very excited to be releasing ‘Fallen Angel’,” says Dan. “It has taken several years to develop, using techniques and technologies that I haven’t used before like 3D scanning and 3D printing.
“The end result is a perfect scaled-down composite marble version of one of my life- sized tattooed torsos and I think it has the ideal look and vibe of a genuine relic from antiquity, but with the use of contemporary references and tattoos the piece is brought forward into the modern day.”
The three limited editions also mix Dan’s love of classicism with commentary on modern society. Following his piece ‘Not All Kings Wear a Crown’, he has created ‘Not All Queens Wear a Crown’, so everyone can be celebrated. “Those phrases mean that everyone can be special, important or valued. Some of the best people in society don’t walk around shouting about it. There are people that change the lives of others in ways that can’t be imagined yet you could walk past them and not know. They are the true queens, kings and heroes of society.”
Dan saw some graffiti in a local skatepark which inspired the piece ‘Money Only Goes So Far, Love is Infinite’, showing dollar bills transitioning into a heart, showing money can’t buy you love. In ‘Money is Not Our God’, Dan shows falling dollars accompanied by butterflies. “These represent nature, which is a much more important thing,” he explains.
19/10/2021Inspired by playing cards, the contemporary artist's new release is fantastic for embracing this autumn/winter's maximalism trend and features his signature stylised skulls, hummingbirds and butterflies.
04/07/2023Dan Lane returns with two new limited edition artworks in his signature style - skulls mixed with thought-provoking elements - plus a bronze version of one of his most popular sculptures, 'When All is Equal'.
