Becoming Paul Corfield: 15 years of magical landscapes

Just as nature constantly reinvents itself, so does Paul Corfield. The much-loved British landscape artist's beautiful scenes offer a chance to escape to people from all walks of life, from newlyweds toasting their first home to grandparents cherishing their memories of the countryside. His first-ever book, Becoming Paul Corfield, chronicles his growth from an up-and-coming artist in Dorset to a prolific painter with artworks in galleries nationwide. The accompanying collection of five limited edition prints, plus a selection of original oil paintings and sketches, celebrates 15 years with our publisher, Washington Green.

Limited edition and original art

For his boldest limited edition series to date, Paul has transformed some of his sold-out artworks, giving collectors the chance to add their favourite piece to their collection. Available individually and as a five-piece set, the hand-varnished giclée on canvas prints have been rendered in exquisite detail by our specialist atelier team, and are presented in a selection of foiled frames that complement each other beautifully.

His stunning original oil paintings were created by hand at his home studio in Dorset. Paul says: "I use only the best oil paints: they’re handmade with linseed oil and pigment for a long-lasting, vibrant finish. In my paintings, existence has been stripped back down to the basics: there are no telephone wires, no street lights, no roads for cars. It’s not a real world, but a world people wish existed. Everything looks like it is meant to be there; each element is in its right place."

Becoming Paul Corfield: the book

Revealing Paul's childhood memories, behind-the-scenes photographs, artistic inspirations and much more, this 124-page hardback book will make a beautiful addition to any bookshelf or coffee table. Within the pages, readers can see the progression of Paul's work over the last 15 years, with the artist rediscovering paintings from his archives and revealing the evolution of his techniques and influences.

Paul says: “Revisiting and reimagining my older paintings has been an interesting and challenging process. It’s really made me look back and see how my abilities have grown over the years, and how I can inject new ideas to keep my work exciting for collectors. People tell me they love my art or can picture themselves in it, which is so touching. Often, they buy it for a celebration or to remember someone they’ve loved and lost; this is very special to me."

Featured art (L-R): 'Autumn at Middle Beach', 'Woodland Clearing', both £325. Hand-varnished giclée on canvas.

"This book has come about at just the right time. I now have a story to tell. Even though it has taken five decades to get here, it feels like I’m just starting the first chapter."
