The worlds of art and fashion have always been intertwined. Fashion, as a part of our daily lives, is regularly depicted in art, and many masterpieces serve as a source of inspiration for both haute couture and prêt-à-porter designers alike. Here are just a few of the many collaborations that have fused art and fashion over the years.
(L-R) Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali: Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli collaborated with Salvador Dali to create the infamous lobster dress, a silk evening gown with an oversized crustacean print. Commenting on the 2018 collaboration, the managing director of the Van Gogh Museum, Adriaan Dönszelmann, said: "By uniting Van Gogh's iconic artworks with iconic Vans styles, our partnership brings Vincent's art 'off the wall' and into the world."
