In contrast to many of his other artworks where he draws inspiration from his memories and experiences, this original painting by Stephen Roby is a spontaneous image from the artist's mind that he has captured on canvas in a style that he has termed 'Full Fat Cubism'.
Based on the early 20th century movement of Analytical Cubism where entire forms were reduced to geometric shapes, Stephen also incorporates warm earth tones into his abstract style. Like a pop interpretation of a crucial moment in art history, the name 'Full Fat Cubism' is also credit to Stephen's playful style and his work not only bares resemblance to the cubist portraits of Pablo Picasso but, also parodies them by adding his own comedic style of facial features!
