Because You Know Too Much
Peter Smith

Hand-signed Flatbed Giclée on Canvas Board limited edition by Peter Smith.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary with Castle Fine Art, artistic duo Peter and Jayne Smith newest collection, Scoff. , features a selection of familiar British pantry favourites.

Contemplating themes of friendship, love and life with kids, the pair’s artworks not only playfully pun on the product associations, but also creatively weave them into the fabric of everyday life. The duo continues to explore the surreal still life oil paintings they have become so famous for, this time recreating the iconic packaging of tasty treats with their iconic sense of humour.

Conveying themes of friendship, in ‘Because You Know Too Much’, gravy is used as a reference for the undeniable comforting feeling a friend brings to our lives. The re-worked text is a testament to the friends who, just like Bisto, know everything about us but still stick around.

The artwork also features the famous Impossimals, that have gained a dedicated following in the fine art world, embodying Peter Smith’s fine artistic craftsmanship and the pair’s unique blend of humour and creativity.

The artwork is meticulously crafted to best showcase the vibrant colours - which are colour matched to the product - the surreal quality and the personality the pair inject into everything they create. The magic comes from the depth and detail of each artwork aligned with the sense of humour in each piece.

This artwork is a Hand-signed Flatbed Giclée on Canvas Board limited edition and can also be purchased in a set of five.

All our framed artworks arrive ready to hang, ensuring a hassle-free setup. Simply unbox, choose your perfect spot and enjoy its beauty instantly.

What happens after I order?

Once you've completed your purchase, a confirmation receipt will be sent via email. You will also receive a follow-up phone call from one of our art consultants to provide confirmation, finalise the details of your preferred delivery method and answer any further questions you may have.

What is the difference between a limited edition and an original?

An original work of art is a one-off piece - painting, sculpture, mixed media - which is made by the artist themselves. When you buy an original piece of work, it comes with the knowledge that you own something incredibly special; almost a piece of the creator themselves. A limited edition is a translation of an original piece and there is a fixed number of these made. The piece will be signed by the artist, and the edition number will show you which number in the series you have purchased. Read more about the different types of art we sell here.

Will you install my art?

We do offer an installation service should you need assistance. You can contact our art consultants for further information here. Please note that this is currently only available in mainland UK.

“Our artwork has always been about capturing the fun in life – the cheeky sparkle of childhood that too often fades as we grow up.”

Features

Hand-signed by the artist

The artwork is hand-signed by Peter Smith.

Flatbed Giclée on Canvas Board

Given Castle Fine Art's expertise as UK's leading art retailer, we are committed to the highest standards specially regarding printing. Derived from the French term gicler’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition to an original artwork. It is believed that a giclée will significantly outlast a lithographic print, keeping its vivid colour for up to 200 years.

Ready to Hang

This artwork arrives ready to hang, ensuring a hassle-free setup. Simply unbox, choose your perfect spot, and enjoy its beauty instantly.

The Impossimals

Scoff. sees the duo continue to explore the surreal still life oil paintings they have become so well known for. Of course, the new artworks also feature the – now infamous – Impossimals that have made the Smith’s artwork so beloved and collectable. Having gained a dedicated following in the fine art world, the Impossimals embody Peter Smith’s fine artistic craftsmanship and the pair’s unique blend of humour and creativity.
