Hand-signed oil original artwork by Jon Jones.

In his show-stopping collection, Silver Screen, figurative artist Jon Jones pays tribute to some of the most memorable moments in film from the last 70 years.

A homage to the enduring joy of cinema, this collection will undoubtedly be an instant classic with a series of iconic images depicting the most famous scenes in cinema history. A celebration of storytelling, nostalgia and the universal power of movies to move us, ‘Magnificent Seven’ depicts a scene from The Magnificent Seven.

Using stark contrasts to emphasize their individualism and their unspoken bond, this artwork captures the iconic lineup of seven gunfighters. With distinct expressions and postures that reveal their unique personalities, each character is meticulously rendered. The monochrome palette enhances the drama, stripping the scene to its essence and highlighting the men’s steely resolve, the epic nature of their mission and the harshness of their surroundings. The choice of using black-and-white also reflects the moral complexities the characters grapple with their pursuit of justice, evoking the timeless quality of classic Western cinematography and paying homage to the genre’s legendary heroes.

From gritty crime thrillers, iconic westerns, musicals, modern romances and coming-of-age dramas, Jones masterfully makes each original artwork feel like a still from a lost masterpiece of classic cinema with the interplay of vivid highlights and deep shadows.

Painted in black and white, the narrative and the characters take centre stage with the stark contrast of light and shadow, a nod to the film noir style, emphasizing the raw emotions and expressions of the actors.

The artwork serves as a bridge between the silver screen and our own memories, transforming a simple scene into a deeply personal experience, inviting us to reminisce about the first time we encountered these iconic movie scenes.
