One of the most celebrated works by Edward Hopper is 'New York Movie, 1939' from which this hand-embellished stretched canvas by John Myatt drew its inspiration. Using immense skill, John has been able to capture the various light sources, perspectives and scenes that harmonised within Hopper's original work. 

As production continues on his own film biopic that sets to capture the incredible life and career of the world-famous art forger, here John Myatt has turned to one of his own favourite artists. The work of American realist Edward Hopper, as John describes, captures a deeper understanding of life in an urban and industrial society. Using bold contrasts and geometrically designed compositions, John has not only captured the gorgeous modern aesthetics of his work but, also the dramatic narratives that speak of isolation, familiarity and cityscapes.
