American brothers Jeffrey and Michael Bisaillon combine their talents to create “uber-contemporary” works inspired by Pop Art.
Influenced by artists like Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, the duo explore the pop culture of today and the mid-20th century. Their work incorporates a range of mediums, including canvas, wood, paint, pen, resin, spray paint, digital imagery and even building materials.
Taken from the pair’s Pop Simplicity series, this piece is inspired by the classic 1942 film Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Set during the Second World War, the Academy Award-winning romance centres around an American expatriate who must choose between his love for an old flame and helping her and her husband flee French-ruled Morocco.
