Bisaillon Brothers
Urban Spirit | 2025
Using the distinctive bottle shapes of iconic vodka and tequila brands – emblems of design and global branding – the artists comment on how consumer products integrate into personal and public narratives. The Bisaillon Brothers’ signature barcode imagery and chaotic linework echoes these ideas of consumer culture and offer a modern art commentary.
A riot of colour – electric blues, hot pinks, and acidic greens – and stark contrasts capture the spirit of pop art and the underground art scene developed by many of the artists featured. The cultural link between art and alcohol was popularised by an advertising campaign for Absolut in the 1980s, spearheaded by Andy Warhol. Prompting the brand to work with lesser-known artists, the campaign promoted the contemporary art scene, giving the brand a youthful edge.
By setting alcohol, a symbol of modern indulgence, against the rough texture of real-world expression, Urban Spirit celebrates art as a form of rebellion, communication and community.

The brothers have a unique, hands-on approach to creating their art. All of the pieces are mixed media and incorporate a range of mediums, including canvas, wood, paint, pen, resin, spray paint, digital imagery and even building materials.
