Sir Joshua Reynold's painting 'Mrs. Siddons As The Tragic Muse' was a hallmark for both art and acting in Georgian England. Famous actress Mrs Siddons was the first woman ever to play Hamlet in Shakespeare's renowned tragedy and Reynold's allegorical masterpiece of her raised the status of portraiture in art when it was exhibited at The Royal Academy in 1784. Here, the dramatic light and majestic composition of the piece has been harnessed by world-famous art forger turned "Genuine Fakes" artist John Myatt.
This majestic masterpiece is the perfect way to add a touch of art history to your home, complemented by a bespoke gold frame moulded from original designs by 18th century cabinet-maker Thomas Chippendale.
