The 2026 instalment in Nic Joly’s The Next Chapter collection marks a meaningful conclusion to a body of work created to celebrate Nic’s connection with his collectors over the course of his decade with Castle Fine Art. It explores thought-provoking topics while acknowledging the lessons and experiences that have shaped Nic creatively and personally. Deeply rooted in reflection, it’s inspired by the embrace of the belief that the future is not separated from the past but rather informed by it.
Not taking itself too seriously, ‘Talking Dirty’ depicts couples caught in compromising cheeky poses on a bar of soap. The irony Joly is famous for is achieved with the soap. Highly glossy and pristine, the soap is meant to scrub things clean, yet in this scene it’s hosting moments that are anything but proper – it’s clean and frozen in time, while the handmade figures on top suggest the opposite, intimacy, mess and mischief. This brilliant contrast makes the artwork funny, oddly charming and perhaps a little awkward.
Mastered over the years, Nic’s depictions of life’s joys, trials and relationships have long enchanted viewers. With their meticulous detail and unfolding narratives, he blends social commentary with playful charm, inviting us to explore his tiny, whimsical worlds.

Miniature Figures
Nic Joly is a true artist and craftsman, whose artistic career was born in a stained glass and metal workshop. Inspired by his own unique style, Joly began to create his tiny figurines. His detailed pieces are full of hand-crafted mini people in an extraordinarily detailed background, which are all made in Nic’s studio in Hampshire.

In 2024, we celebrated Nic Joly's tenth anniversary with Castle Fine Art and remembered the intricate details tell stories of moments lived, emotions felt, and a journey embarked upon. As Nic reflects on the last decade and his past creations, the spirit of experimentation and the passion for self-expression is a reminder that Nic's artwork is an extension of him and the thoughtful, considered miniature works he creates. Nic's 2024 collection,The Next Chapter, references Nic's evolving creative journey with his progressive techniques, unexplored themes, and sentiments yet to be unravelled and miniaturised. Yes, Castle Fine Art is based in the UK, but we ship internationally. All of our international orders are delivered via DHL.
To ensure a secure transit, every artwork is handled with utmost care. We take precautionary measures by using foam around the piece for added safety during transportation, and then the artwork(s) are packaged in double-walled, reinforced cardboard boxes that offer superior protection. All of this ensures that your artwork arrives safely.
Most artwork orders will need to be professionally mounted and framed before being dispatched, so delivery can take up to four weeks from the date you placed your order, but we do strive to deliver your order as soon as we can.
Books and gift cards are delivered within 2-3 working days. Please note, if multiple artworks are purchased within the same order, they may be delivered separately for efficient delivery.
The majority of our originals and limited editions are hand signed by the artist themselves. On some occasions where we have limited edition sculptures, this is hand written into the mould before production. If you're unsure, please contact us.
