Tackling topics such as family, love and hope, Nic’s art illustrates his decidedly unconventional approach. For this Peaky Blinders inspired piece, Nic took a backstreet tour of Birmingham, collecting dirt from the areas the notorious criminal gang frequented.
The figures' clothing is handmade with layers of tissue and paper, while the accessories are crafted from vintage clothes Nic sourced himself. The shed was built with wood from an antique box originally made in 1915, during the Peaky Blinders' reign (1890s to 1930). He was also of course inspired by the award-winning BBC Two series.
Nic says: “What's not to love? They stand for family and sticking together, no matter what comes your way. This sculpture is a little bit of theatre, with the Shelbys walking towards you together. I'd say it's as close to an original artwork as you can get!"
