Mixed Media
Art Consultation
Showcased as part of his debut collection with Castle Fine Art, ‘She Gets Me’ depicts English guitarist, Matthew Ashman and his girlfriend Gabriella Palmano.
Ashman was a guitarist with new wave bands, Adam and the Ants and Bow Wow Wow. All part of London’s new romantic ‘Blitz Kids’ scene, Boy George became friends with Matthew and ‘Gabby’, regularly visiting their flat in Whitechapel on Sunday afternoons for a singsong, armed with bagels from Brick Lane. Matthew was the first person to tell Boy George that he was a great singer. Tragically he passed away in 1995, aged 35, but continues to be one of Boy George’s musical heroes.
Boy George’s extraordinary collection of mixed media original and unique artworks are a sight to behold. Portraying a host of known and unknown icons, they explore themes of identity, reinvention and judgement. A true maximalist, no material is off limits, resulting in visual feasts that pour out of the frame.

The artist
Boy George
Boy George is a pure creative. For him, art is everything.
Influenced by people from his past and present, and visions in nature and architecture, his art is quintessentially Boy George - loud, vivid, punk, iconic. Sometimes representing a specific person, sometimes representing us all, each piece tells a story. A story that we must discover for ourselves.
