Depicting ‘Windswept & Interesting’ in stainless steel, Billy Connolly expands his incredible selection of three-dimensional work. The Teddy Boy character stands on his black granite base, shaking his maracas in the air. Billy has added his signature linework to the jacket and trousers of the character, adding texture to this already tactile art form.
“Maracas were very popular in the 1950s and 60s to allow a signature look, and to leap around. Mick Jagger used to make great use of them, and they’re a great posing tool.”
Bringing ‘Windswept & Interesting’ to life in stainless-steel, Billy subtly references his time as a welder in the shipyards of Glasgow. Creating contrast between highly polished and patterned areas, this timeless artwork is the ideal collector’s piece for avid Billy Connolly fans. Following the success of the 2021 collection of the same name, this instalment of the ‘Windswept & Interesting’ collection is as humorous and vibrant as Billy Connolly himself.
This artwork is also available in a set of three.

The artist
Billy Connolly
The world-famous musician and comedian's iconic artworks have no less impact than one of his legendary comedy sketches. The faceless figures possess an extraordinary self-awareness and humanity. Devoid of emotion or expression, their anonymity opens them up to individual interpretation, creating a unique bond with the viewer.
Featured by The Times and documentaries including Billy Connolly: It's Been a Pleasure, his minimalist drawings have been described as 'poignant', 'funny' and 'enigmatic' by critics.
