Depicting one of his most iconic images, this stainless steel sculpture is the latest incredible addition to Billy’s three dimensional body of work. This solemn yet brilliant artwork from Billy Connolly had a "profound impact" on the artist. Who are they? Are they following their mother? Where are they going? Ultimately Billy leaves you the viewer to decide. ‘It’s where my imagination meets your imagination’.
These thought provoking abstracted figures create a sense of togetherness both as a unit and within themselves.
Formed first in clay to capture the detailed lines of his signature style, the sculpture is then cast in stainless steel, subtly referencing Billy's time as a welder in the shipyards of Glasgow. Contrast is created between detailed and patterned areas through intricate texture and polishing to beautiful and dramatic effect, a timeless artwork from one of our time’s most original thinkers.
This piece is presented in Polished Stainless Steel with Black Granite Base and can be purchased in a set.

The Art in Life

The artist
Billy Connolly
The world-famous musician and comedian's iconic artworks have no less impact than one of his legendary comedy sketches. The faceless figures possess an extraordinary self-awareness and humanity. Devoid of emotion or expression, their anonymity opens them up to individual interpretation, creating a unique bond with the viewer.
Featured by The Times and documentaries including Billy Connolly: It's Been a Pleasure, his minimalist drawings have been described as 'poignant', 'funny' and 'enigmatic' by critics.
