Ronnie Wood

Famous Flames Suite | 2019

Published in 2011, The Famous Flames Suite by Ronnie Wood echoes the intensity of his guitar playing, translating the rawness of a Rolling Stones performance through rhythmic lines, bold colours and acute facial expressions.

Each image displays a flamboyant energy as the orange wave-like flame sweeps dramatically across the painting, creating an exhilarating feeling of movement. Referencing photographs of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts on stage, Ronnie first created a dramatic black backdrop before painting his fellow members in acrylics, oils and oil pastels.

The artist

Ronnie Wood

As much an artist as he is a musician, Ronnie Wood's two talents have become almost inseparable. It is as natural to find him with a pencil as with a guitar, drawing portraits of band members and musicians he admires, as well as family, close friends and self portraits.
