In his debut collection with Castle Fine Art, visual storyteller Gary James McQueen invites us into his multidimensional world that glimmers with life and legend.
In the collection, the artist honours a form that is somewhat synonymous with the McQueen name – the skull. A powerful emblem of storytelling for his uncle, the late, great fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen, the skull remains a timeless symbol of life’s beauty, fragility and transience.
He hand-sketches the artwork before digitally sculpting it into a 3D image. The ornate gilded details act as Gary James McQueen’s Midas touch – befitting of the mythical nature of his work and his passion for storytelling.

THE FINER DETAILS
Hand-signed by the artist
The artworks in this set are hand-signed by Gary James McQueen.
Silkscreen
Given Castle Fine Art's expertise as UK's leading art retailer, we are committed to the highest standards specially regarding printing. Believed to have originated as far back as 1000 years ago, silkscreen printing involves using a tightly-stretched mesh or screen. The first step is to mount the silkscreens over your chosen canvas, with a separate screen for each colour. Once the screens or stencils are in place, artists roll, press, sponge or squeegee their ink or paint over the silkscreens to leave a design.
Edition size, gold and silver leaf
The artworks in this set have a small edition size of only 95 artworks. Silkscreened on 410gsm Somerset Satin Paper, the artworks are adorned with gold and silver leaf.
