This iridescent original oil painting by Emma-Leone Palmer marks an evolution within her Afterglow collection. Displaying brighter colours across the composition and freer movements than her previous work, the artist describes that this painting reflects her feelings of elation and release as UK lockdown began to end. She remembers dancing in her studio with her eyes closed which she has captured here while using light as a symbolism of her inner energy.

The artist
Emma-Leone Palmer
After graduating with a fine art degree in 2005, Emma moved to Umbria in Italy, where her love of figurative painting blossomed at a studio once used by the High Renaissance painter Raphael. She went on to hold a solo exhibition of 38 portraits at the Watts Gallery and appear as a contestant on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, where she painted the film star Richard E. Grant.
