Using abstract forms, patterns and sculptural painting to imply movement, Scarlett’s art draws the viewer in, encouraging them to explore their imagination and place themselves within the painting. Passionate about colour, her dynamic approach often sees her use her hands rather than a brush to apply oil paint. Her sweeping arm gestures create movement and direction, with the artist being likened to Anselm Kiefer and Jackson Pollock.
Scarlett creates tactile art by covering her hands in oil pigment and gently feeling her way around the canvas. Using fluorescent yellows and pinks, she splatters the paint on to capture the movement of flowers in the wind.
“Paint is thrown on, splattered and flicked. Spitting and dancing, it creates a whole world of magic.”

The artist
Scarlett Raven
Scarlett Raven is a contemporary British impressionist whose work is widely recognized for its emotional intensity and heavy texture. Through bold colour, dramatic paint application and vivid scenery, her textured landscape paintings have positioned her as one of the most exciting female impressionists in the UK today. With stylistic influences from Vincent van Gogh, Anselm Kiefer, Gustav Klimt and David Hockney, her emotive works are inspired by her deep personal connection with nature.
