This mesmerising artwork by John Myatt is both independent to and intertwined with epochal modernist artist Marc Chagall. Featuring symbols and figures from a range of paintings, this unique hand-embellished stretched canvas is a romantic union of both famous artists, worthy of any museum wall.
Initially inspired by an early 20th century drawing of Chagall at his easel, this vibrant painting later evolved to include figures from some of his famed wedding paintings that feature a bride and groom floating above villages, surrounded by colourful musicians. As it took nearly seven years to complete and is a totally unique composition inspired by the work of Chagall, John admits he was reluctant to part with this piece that he had in his home for so long.
Framed in beautiful pewter grey moulded from an original design by 18th century cabinet-maker Thomas Chippendale, this artwork also features fluorescent pigments of red used to make the accents pop in accordance with a similar technique used by David Hockney; read more here.
