Hand-signed Embellished Flatbed Giclée on Canvas Board by Bob Barker.
Inspired by fond childhood memories of days at the fairground, Bob Barker delves into the youthful fantasy of riding away on a carousel horse in his new artwork, ‘No Ties’. A dream come true for many children, Barker depicts the carousel horses coming to life and galloping into the woodland.
Exploring the concept of freedom, ‘No Ties’ shows the horses finally released from their restraints and able to live like wild animals.
Whilst painting the wild horses, the artist found himself singing ‘Crazy Horses’ by The Osmonds. Adding a piece of himself into the painting, Barker chose to include 17 horses as a reference to his age when the song was released.
Adorning the top of the carousel with the words ‘gallopers, golden, craziest’, Barker reminisces about his own youth – a time when carousels were referred to as ‘gallopers’. Leaning into the fantasy of the image, the artist chose to include an unnaturally large moon, shining through the treetops.
First created for his wife, Barker previously painted a carousel scene in his well-loved piece, ‘A Ride on the Wild Side’. Reflecting on his art career and his milestone anniversary with Castle Fine Art, Barker chose to revisit this favourite image, adding a new twist.
“I’d like the viewer to see the fantasy of it. It allows you to go where you want in your mind, just like how the horses are going where they want to.”
This artwork is also available in a boutique edition.
