A leader in his own genre 'Northern Impressionism', Bob Barker is a modern impressionist painter with a truly unique colour palette. His use of colour is rare and exciting as can be seen in his masterpiece where tones of blue and purple invigorate the scene and compliment the couple walking across the bridge with their red umbrella, as well as the artist's red hat. This tranquil landscape also functions as a self-portrait; a portrayal of how he the artist sees himself and his work much like the famous artist portraits of Velázquez's 'Les Meninas' and Jan Van Eyck's 'Arnolfini Portrait'.
Celebrating Bob's 15 years as an artist with us, this artwork forms part of his important 2022 collection From Yesterday to Here. Across the collection, we see references to some of his most critical artworks, themes and inspirations. From the landscape of his own childhood to a contemporary adaptation of a sell-out artwork; you can view the full collection here.

Depicting touching childhood, family and romantic scenes, his nostalgic artworks feature a neutral palette of greys and browns with splashes of vibrant colour and a unique inner glow created by the manipulation of light and shadow.
