Jon Jones

Sharon Osbourne personally selected this image based on an image of the band from the early 1970s for Jones to recreate. Considered the ‘original’ heavy metal band by many, ‘Changes’ captures the group’s raw energy, rebellious spirit and deeply embedded legacy in global music culture.

The gritty, urban style of Jon Jones’ art is reflective of the origin story of Black Sabbath, which saw these four young men looking to escape a life of factory work through music in 1960s Birmingham. But it was the second city’s industrial core that wound up birthing an entirely new music genre by chance.

For each purchase of 'Changes', we will donate £100 to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s Inspiring Spaces Appeal. The project will use the power of art to create colourful, creative and inspiring spaces within Parkview, its youth mental health inpatient facility based in Moseley, to improve wellbeing and aid recovery.

“Being from Birmingham, everyone I spoke to had their own Sabbath tale to tell. The thing that struck me was that every single story was positive. They are true legends – in Birmingham and beyond.” - Jon Jones

"I want the eyes to be alive and the viewer to be connected. You can see a glint in someone’s eye and wonder what is going on."

The artist

Jon Jones

Figurative artist Jon has enjoyed sell-out success in both the UK and Australia. He has been shortlisted for several prestigious awards, including the BP Portrait Award hosted by the National Portrait Gallery in London. Often depicting celebrities or the Peaky Blinders gang, his haunting portraits are perfect for both traditional and contemporary spaces. A 50-metre mural created from his original paintings is currently on display outside Birmingham's New Street station to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
