Experimentation is an important factor for Paul, who is constantly working on new ideas and trying out different sizes and compositions. The use of wood creates an exciting contrast, as the artist is known for his works on aluminium and canvas. 

He adds: “I have an idea in my head to start with, but I don’t want to overwork it or be complacent. ‘That will do’ will never do! It’s good to know when to finish; I’d rather leave an artwork fresh than overworked.”
