Collected by celebrities including Sir Elton John, Sting and Boy George, the art of Illuminati Neon (aka Mark Sloper) is influenced by the punk movement of the 1970s and 80s.
This regal piece reimagines the late Princess Diana as a punk princess. It was hand-painted in acrylics and oils before being embellished with jewels. The neon elements were crafted using a centuries-old technique, whereby the glass is bent under a temperature of 500˚C and compressed gas within the powder-coated tubes is ignited to produce an organic glow.
Mark says: “Let’s celebrate her as a rebel, as a punk, as a bit of fun! The tattoo on her shoulder says ‘Vicious’ – that’s me imagining the punk rocker Sid Vicious as her beau.”
