Basquiat 03
Boy George

Mixed Media canvas with beads, sequins, material, hand signed by Boy George.

Showcased as part of his debut collection with Castle Fine Art, ‘Basquiat 03’ is a unique portrait of graffiti artist turned global star, Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Both rising to fame in the 1980s, Basquiat and Boy George would regularly see one another at clubs in New York. At the time, Basquiat was still a somewhat unknown artist, so would often ask Boy George to loan him $300. One day, to pay him back, Basquiat invited Boy George to his studio to take one of his paintings. Boy George never did and in 1988, at the age of 27, Basquiat tragically died. He is now considered a pioneer in the neo-expressionist movement and a great inspiration to Boy George.

Boy George’s extraordinary collection of mixed media original and unique artworks are a sight to behold.  Portraying a host of known and unknown icons, they explore themes of identity, reinvention and judgement. A true maximalist, no material is off limits, resulting in visual feasts that pour out of the frame.

Find out more about Boy George’s debut collection for Castle Fine Art or take a look at Boy George’s artist page.

All our framed artworks arrive ready to hang, ensuring a hassle-free setup. Simply unbox, choose your perfect spot and enjoy its beauty instantly.

The majority of our originals and limited editions are hand signed by the artist themselves. On some occasions where we have limited edition sculptures, this is hand written into the mould before production. If you're unsure, please contact us.

Once you've completed your purchase, a confirmation receipt will be sent via email. You will also receive a follow-up phone call from one of our art consultants to provide confirmation, finalise the details of your preferred delivery method and answer any further questions you may have.

What is the difference between a limited edition and an original?

An original work of art is a one-off piece - painting, sculpture, mixed media - which is made by the artist themselves. When you buy an original piece of work, it comes with the knowledge that you own something incredibly special; almost a piece of the creator themselves. A limited edition is a translation of an original piece and there is a fixed number of these made. The piece will be signed by the artist, and the edition number will show you which number in the series you have purchased. Read more about the different types of art we sell here.

Will you install my art?

We do offer an installation service should you need assistance. You can contact our art consultants for further information here. Please note that this is currently only available in mainland UK.

About

Boy George

About

Boy George

Boy George is a pure creative. For him, art is everything.

Influenced by people from his past and present, and visions in nature and architecture, his art is quintessentially Boy George – loud, vivid, punk, iconic. Sometimes representing a specific person, sometimes representing us all, each piece tells a story. A story that we must discover for ourselves.
