Creating a feel of wanderlust, the collection is full of calming and inspiring landscape pieces.

'Particles of Light' is based on the Scottish Highlands, which inspired the artist after a trip with his family exploring the beauty around the Isle of Skye and Dornie. As an ode to the artist’s awe at the size of the universe and how beautiful it is, this piece was titled during the process of painting, in which him and his children were discussing how the universe is made up of tiny particles and the stars are burning balls of light trillions of kilometres away.

For over 15 years, Richard Rowan has trailblazed the medium of oil painting on glass to create artworks of incredible and atmospheric depth due to the being at the forefront of his very complex field.

Being at the forefront of his technique, Richard Rowan’s original artworks are detailed with his characteristic photographic realism, illustrating the power of nature. The landscapes are reverse painted in layers on to the glass, which allows him to achieve the microscopic detail and preserve the vibrant colours. On each of Richard's original artworks is a transparent viewing panel to allow collectors to see the process behind their creation.

The method of underpainting from foreground to background, building layers in reverse, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next one leaves small margin for error and truly demonstrates Rowan’s beautiful, detailed artistry.

Richard was listening to Indaco by Ludovico Einaudi from the album Islands when working on this artwork.

Find out more about Richard Rowan’s newest collection here or alternatively shop more art here.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0883/1906/6461/files/rro-ori-lan-30575-particles-of-light-1_2023-11-30T11-48-37.jpg?v=1745956142
