He pioneered an entirely new artistic language

David Gerstein is widely recognised as the first artist to use laser-cutting technology in fine art, developing a technique that has become his signature. Rather than treating painting and sculpture as separate disciplines, he combines the two to create hand-painted aluminium works that extend beyond the picture plane into three-dimensional space.
