Pascale begins each portrait by drawing several different facial expressions. She believes an understanding of the asymmetry of the human face is essential for mastering a portrait. Once she has captured the face, she creates a sketch in charcoal, pencil or oil before starting to paint. Following this, the gold leaf is delicately applied.
