One lucky collector got their claws on the awesome Leonidas sculpture by Robert Oxley when it sold for an impressive £2,600 at auction. Created for the Lions of Windsor Sculpture Trail, the handsome Leonidas was auctioned by Christie's auctioneers in November 2019, with 100% of proceeds going to charity. Scroll down to find out more!
Handmade in the West Country with hollow fibreglass, this charming sculpture was then hand-painted by Robert in his signature drip-effect style. It marks his first foray into 3D art, making it an exciting addition to any collection.
Other painters include fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes, Burberry and Harrods designer Lisa Stickley, and Liberty designer Sally Kelly.
All money raised will be shared between Thames Hospice, The Lions Club of Windsor, Look Good Feel Better and Tusk.
Leonidas measures 60cm (W) x 150cm (H) x 180cm (L) and weighs 25KG.
"It's been an incredible opportunity to realise my painting technique in a 3D format and also raise money for such a worthy cause."
