Renowned for creativity and design, London Fashion Week showcases the world’s most influential designers and welcomes emerging talents from the industry. As the UK's biggest fashion event draws to a close, we reflect on how fashion has influenced the work of some of our artists, such as Pascale Taurua and fashion photographer Raphael Mazzucco.
As a former Miss France, Pascale Taurua is no stranger to the world of fashion. Through her provocative oil paintings Pascale explores the complexities of life as a 21st century woman, challenging gender stereotypes through style and fashion.
Pascale says: “Fashion us one of the most important means of communication. We are no longer confined by an ideal standard of femininity or beauty but can instead celebrate our true selves through what we wear.”
See how Pascale Taurua uses fashion as a symbol of female strength and sexuality in her collection here.
Unlike Pascale Taurua, Raphael Mazzucco is used to being on the other side of the camera. As one of the world’s most influential fashion photographers and contemporary artists, Mazzucco has captured the attention of fashion giants across the globe. After years spent perfecting his craft across Europe, his arrival in New York City saw him create work for the likes of Victoria’s Secret, L’Oreal, Guess Jeans and Ralph Lauren.

Xue Wang’s artistic background was originally in fashion, after obtaining a degree in China. For each of her characters, Xue sketches out the faces before adding make-up, hairstyles, clothes and accessories as though styling a human or mannequin.
