Featuring a bone-chilling scene from the 1925 silent horror film, The Phantom of the Opera, this pencil sketch shows just why Robert's work is owned by stars including Star Wars creator George Lucas.
Mirroring the black-and-white cinematography of the film, this striking figurative work possesses an incredible atmosphere and sense of drama. The former medical photographer creates this effect via a method called hatching, which involves using closely-drawn parallel lines to imply shade, tone and texture.
This horror classic was based on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra, which tells the story of a deformed phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House.
