In this golden landscape illuminated by the setting sun, we see a house perched amongst fluffy trees at the end of a narrow path, forged through winding hills and across a tranquil river. Vivid tones of green are softened by the warm colours of the sunset that bounce off the leaves; a new technique used by the artist who previously portrayed trees with flawless smoothness and uniformity.
Nonetheless utopian, Paul’s yearning for a solitary lifestyle is also conveyed here. In keeping with his Spring 2021 collection, Paul creates idyllically secluded landscapes because, to him, they epitomise his idea of heaven.
