An original production drawing signed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

The most effect-ual Top Cat is showcased here on this iconic original production drawing. First airing between 1961-1962, the success of Top Cat meant that this cheeky cartoon character and his gang of Manhattan cats were rerun and revisited many times. These included: four other TV shows, four films, and six cameo appearances such as The Powerpuff Girls (2000).

This original production drawing was created and used by animators in Hanna-Barbera Studios for the feature film: Top Cat and the Beverly Hills Cats (1988). Top Cat's original creators, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, meticulously created their iconic animated shows according to the exact art of hand-drawing their characters. A contrast to the largely digital process we see today, the numbers and letters at the end of this artwork title correspond to the original sequence numbers created by the animators. These established the order of drawings and cels according to the series of movements that they formed within a scene.

Presented on its original, beautifully aged paper and framed in charcoal pine and spruce wood, this simple yet significant artwork is the perfect way to add a sophisticated touch of TV magic to your home. Discover more about our original Hanna-Barbera collection here.
