An original Courvoisier cel created by Disney during the production of 'Pinocchio', 1939.
Made in 1939, Walt Disney's classic film Pinocchio was only the studio's second ever feature film but, continues to warm the hearts of audiences even 82 years later.
This cel or celluloid would have been used in the original production process after an animators' original drawing was traced onto a sheet of transparent plastic and hand-painted in colour. It would then be projected in front of a separate, hand-painted background via a multiplane camera to create a minute yet crucial still in the final film.
This nostalgic 'Courvoisier cel' comes mounted, framed, and with a certificate of authenticity. It is termed 'Courvoisier’ because it is from the exclusive archives of revered art dealer Guthrie Courvoisier who worked with the Disney brothers back in the 1930s.
