The Streets That Made Me

At first glance, the dark landscape in this artwork has a sombre feel to it. But it is, in fact, a heart-warming representation of the industrial northern landscape that Bob Barker, and many others, grew up in. Walking along the cobbled streets that he grew up, the figure in this portrait dons a flat cap and trench coat which combines with the elegant monochrome colour palette to create a nostalgic reference to an bygone era; as if in a black and white photograph.
