American brothers Jeffrey and Michael Bisaillon combine their talents to create “uber-contemporary” works inspired by Pop Art and artists like Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Speaking on this artwork, Michael says: “While we were making a Gentlemen Prefer Blondes inspired piece, we made an error and were about to throw it away before Jeffrey said we should mount the canvas to a panel and see what came to life.
“I decided to throw some raw pigment we had in the studio all over it. To date, this is the only piece we have made using raw pigment. It creates a colourisation that is striking and stands out (like technicolour), especially since the rest is black and white. We feel this is a striking piece centred around a true, raw, female strength.”
